Under federal and state laws, employers have an obligation to take preventative steps to provide employees with a place of employment free from intimidation, threats of violence and acts of violence. The District has made a commitment to provide a safe and healthy working and learning environment by offering workplace violence prevention training to all employees.
The training will be conducted by Chief Laura Lorman, Director of Public Safety at West Valley-Mission Community College District. As a law enforcement professional for over twenty years, Chief Lorman is a subject matter expert in the field of workplace violence and has conducted workshops extensively for colleges and civic organizations. This training will focus on awareness and prevention, risk factors, and early warning signs, and will provide employees with practical and concrete information on what to do and who to consult when a potential problem is identified or an incident occurs. Real-life scenarios will be presented for discussion.
